Several of our members went on a tripe together to D.C. to participate in the 2019 Women's March. To get a inside scoop of how the event played out, we
asked some of our members 1) what their overall experience was like and 2) what it meant for them to be able to go with their fellow Women of Color.
Here are the responses from two of our beautiful members:
Bry Moore:
1) "The overall march was empowering. I think that this motivates me to see the collection of people who have the same moral values as me, which makes me feel like I'm not alone in this world."
2) "I felt it was important that Women of Color was here, because women of color are the backbone of this society. If it weren't for our ancestors (who were women of color,) we would not be able to do the things that we're doing now. It's through their legacy that we are here and we are visible."
Jasmine Winters:
1) "I felt the march was a very good and empowering experience. I'm glad I had the opportunity to go on this trip and be surrounded by women who support each other and also be able to speak our minds."
2) "I feel like there is always power in numbers and ever since I've joined Women of Color I've found my home and my niche. It was really great to be able to attend such a big event with people who have similar views and interests as me."
We are so happy that they had a great time at the march! Special thanks to Sarah Taylor Mayhak, a instructor at James Madison University, for reaching out to us and providing our members with transportation to the march. It would not have been possible without your generosity!
